The presence of electric cars needs to protect small and medium industries

The rise of electric vehicles (EV) on the market, both electric cars, electric motorbikes, and electric-based vehicles, such as bicycles electric and other means of transportation, proving that the prospects for this type of vehicle continue to advance, becoming another option besides petrol-based vehicles. Of course, this development is encouraging and the government seems to continue to support it with various incentives for ownership and preparation of infrastructure, especially the visible one which is the preparation of massive charging stations.

The first wave, gasoline-based vehicles, is over. Starting in the 1970s, the now large OEM (original equipment manufacture) brands have developed. Currently at least five Japanese OEM brands control gasoline-based automotive. With such a long history, there must be a big impact on this automotive support industry. However, it should be noted that not a single domestic product or brand has developed. Decades ago until now we still know who dominates the market share.

According to the author, the second wave is currently happening with electric and EV-based vehicles. Unlike the first wave, this second wave seems to be no longer only initiated by the five major OEM companies. Many are involved and interested in this type of vehicle. According to sources from the Ministry of Transportation, there are at least 50 more registered EV brands. So, it can be imagined how many brands and types of electric vehicles (including electric bicycles) are circulating in the market, and we can already feel them on the road. The fundamental question is whether we are willing and able to take advantage of this second wave momentum?
