“Offensive Realism” in Competitive Advantage

The term offensive realism was first coined by John Mearsheimer (2001) who said that the world is filled with countries competing to become hegemonic countries, namely countries that dominate other countries. This competition occurs because there is no authority that is able to implement the rules that have been agreed upon together to regulate the behavioral discipline of each country.

Therefore, according to Mearsheimer, the world has become anarchistic. The authority in question should be the United Nations (PBB), but just look at the genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel. How many Palestinians have been killed due to Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023? The United Nations (PBB) can do nothing because the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), as the highest body of the United Nations (PBB) responsible for maintaining international peace and security, has been unable to agree on a resolution due to a veto by the United States. This veto demonstrates the hegemony of the "Uncle Sam" country, anarchistically sacrificing tens of thousands of Palestinians.
